Our Learn to Multi-pitch Climb Course is designed for anyone who is confident at single pitch climbing and wants to progress into the world of multi-pitch climbing. Our courses are based in Torridon, Scotland, home to some of the best multi-pitch climbing in the UK. Our aim is to teach you the skills necessary to become a safe, efficient and independent multiptich climber. So that you are able to get out into the mountains yourself and enjoy the amazing routes on offer.
This course is delivered in a realistic and practical setting. Therefore, we will be spending both days of the course on multi-pitch routes.

In order to get the most from this course it is essential you are already a competent lead climber on single pitch routes. Your climbing grade is not important, since we can learn on grades appropriate to your level. No previous experience of multi pitch climbing is needed.
Some people choose to combine this course with our Two Day Self Rescue Course for a more in depth understanding of dealing with emergency situations and problem solving.
Our Learn to Multi-Pitch Climb Courses take place in and around the Torridon Mountains. This area is famous for its incredible climbing, it is a fantastic place to learn. With no shortage of brilliant routes at a variety of grades, you will have plenty of opportunity to practice and refine your skills. All within a realistic and inspirational environment. The largest village in the area is Gairloch, with excellent local facilities and amenities, including B&Bs, self catering, hotels, shops, pubs and takeaways.
Today, we will head straight off to our first multi-pitch route. We will of course pick a climb that is appropriate to your current climbing ability. After a discussion on route selection and equipment we begin the climb, providing coaching and advice on movement skills throughout the day. At our first belay ledge we will begin concentrating on building good belays and stance management. Considering the best ways to position people and efficient ropework to avoid tangles. We will also discuss handing over kit. Throughout the day we will continue up the climb with plenty of opportunity to learn, develop and refine skills as we go.
Today we will head up another multi-pitch climb. However, the focus today will be more on you putting into place the techniques from yesterday. This not only gives you plenty of time to practice but also to gain confidence in the skills you are learning. We will also look at abseiling and how to escape the route. As well as problem solving and considering problems that can be encountered in a multipitch environment.
In order to provide the highest level of learning and safety we maintain low ratios for our courses. Below you can see the details. Small numbers allow us to make sure you get the tuition you need and the course is tailored around your aspirations.

All technical equipment needed (e.g. ropes/harnesses/helmets) are included in the course fee. Please feel free to bring your own rack as well and then we can look at how to tailor this for multipitch climbing. Do note our instructors will inspect any technical equipment you bring to ensure safety.
